IPhone 7, Is it worth it?

By Kevin Reagan

As many of you may already know by now Apple has released the new brand new IPhone 7. However, with the many conspiracies and rumors going around about the phone you may not even know what to believe at this point. So is the Iphone 7 worth your time and money? Lets find out.

First off, let’s start off with one of the most important aspects of the phone, the design. By first impressions you will see that it’s the same size and shape as previous phones such as the 6 and 6s, along with the same look to the front and only a few minor changes to the back and sides including one of the least favorable changes to the phone, no headphone jack, yes it’s true. The camera is slightly bigger with more of an Ipod touch 5th Generation look. All in all, the Phone doesn’t look a whole lot different than previous versions, only slight noticeable changes throughout.

Next, comes the interface. From first impressions, the Phone’s interface doesn’t seem much different than the 6 and 6s if you are running IOS10. The phone also has the same Retina HD display as the 6 and 6s at 1334×750 pixel resolution however, earlier models such as the 6 and 6s will not have as rich colors or blacks as the 7, nor will the 6 include 3D Touch like the 6s and 7. Battery life will be a huge plus with the Iphone 7 If you are the type of person who uses your phone nonstop throughout the day, topping the 6s and 6 by a full 2 hours longer life. Another huge plus for all photographers, the Iphone 7 will come with a 12 mega pixel back camera with brand new optical image stabilization for clearer, more defined pictures as well as better focus than the 6s or 6 could offer.

Lastly, comes the features you can’t necessarily see, speed and capacity. Now the Iphone 7 comes with apples brand new A10 chip compared to the A9 in other devices. This doesn’t say much about speed compared between the devices so I dug deeper to find more of a visible comparison. I came across a speed test performed by Tech Trinkets on YouTube, a well trusted technology reviewer. I found that the Iphone 7 boots up almost a whole 13 seconds faster than the 6. As he was opening apps the Iphone 7 continued to leave the 6 in the dust beating it by half seconds on simple apps such as calling or IMessage, all the way up to 30 seconds in 3rd party Apps or games as well as Safari. Speed may be one of the most significant changes between the models that will definitely be a big noticeable change if you are upgrading from the 6. Last comes the Capacity between the 6s, 6, and 7. Everyone who has ever bought the 16gb Iphone knows the famous notification “Storage full” and it may be the most annoying thing with these phones causing you to delete pictures, apps, or videos you would rather keep. Well as the Iphone 6 came with the options ranging from 16gb to 32gb to 64gb and the 6s ranging from 32gb to a whole 128gb. The Iphone 7 will start off at 32gb going to 128gb, and ending off at a whopping 258gb. With this you can rest assured knowing you will probably never see another annoying popup ever again.

The Iphone 7 will definitely be a huge step forward if you are coming from the 6 or 6s in many areas. So now if you are ready to go out, run to the apple store and purchase the Phone you’re going to need to slow down. If you’re looking to buy the normal 7 in any color except Jet Black you are going to have to look pretty hard. However if you’re going for the Jet Black Iphone 7 or any model Iphone 7 you’re out of luck. These have both been sold out since the release of the phone and not expected back until November. Now go out, get a job, earn the money, and be patient!
