Last week Catholic School’s week wrapped up. Xavier took part in the week with fun and events such as Fact or Fiction trivia questions and a No Tie or Bow Tie Day. This was a great week and everyone enjoyed the activities.

Catholic Schools Week started January 26 and ended February 1, 2014. The slogan for this year’s Catholic Schools Week was: “Communities in Faith, Knowledge in Faith.” Catholic Schools Week is not only in Connecticut, it is an event all over the United States. Other schools typically do mass, activities, and open houses with their school communities.

Xavier took a strong approach in reaching this message to the whole student body by creating fun events around the school. One of the events every day of the week was Fact or Fiction hosted by the Kestrel’s Nick Romanelli. Each day, some true and false facts were said about some well known staff at Xavier and ballots were placed for students to fill in on their way to lunch. At the end of the school day Nick would read out the answers and the winner would win a fries prize. Another one of the events was the No Tie or Bow Tie Day. The Bowtie was a popular hit at Xavier. Other events took place such as Xavier apparel Day and guessing how many goldfish there were in a jar in the library.

Each year, Xavier adds to it various activities during Catholic Schools Week to show pride in Catholic education. Thanks to Nick and many others, this years Catholic Schools Week was a successful one. Catholic Schools were celebrating from all over while still carrying out the more important message of carrying out Christ’s work.
