A Truly Historic Teacher Feature

By Andrew Cammisa, Senior Writer

Mr. King is currently a teacher at Xavier who has been teaching here for eight years and the subjects that he teaches are U.S. History, Politics, and Civics. Before coming to Xavier, he taught a fourth grade class in Nashville Tennessee and also taught at the middle school that his daughter currently attends for five years. He has not always taught history though. At one point in his life, he really thought that he wanted to be a Jesuit priest, but learned that he had a different vocation. This vocation, which is his most important job of all, is being a good father to his daughter as well as being a loving and supporting husband to his wife, whom he has been married to for ten years.

Mr. King is also a very academic person. For his undergraduate degree he attended the College of Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1999 and he majored in history while there. Then, still in pursuit of a higher level of education, he decided to go after his master’s degree for education which he obtained at the University of Notre Dame which is located near South Bend, Indiana. Currently he is working on his second master’s degree in history by attending CCSU.

Mr. King is also an athletic lover. He is currently a member of the coaching staff for Xavier High School’s own basketball team. Despite this, he does admit that football is his favorite sport and it has been ever since he had attended Notre Dame.

Overall, Mr. King is a very interesting teacher. He has been well traveled, having experience in both the northern and southern portions of the country, he has a very impressive academic experience having a master’s degree and pursuing a second at CCSU’s graduate school, and is also a sports enthusiast having a strong interest in football and Xavier High School basketball and we are lucky to have him.
