Nathan Sykes was born in England on April 18, 1993 . He holds the record as the youngest member of  The Wanted. In 2014, he separated from the band after they took a break. Nathan has said that he feels inspired by artists such as Nick Jonas, Robbie Williams, and Justin Timberlake. Nathan has also done a collaborative project with Ariana Grande in 2013, “Almost is Never Enough.”

We here at the Kestrel decided to give his new hit “Kiss Me Quick” a quick listen. The song has a live beat, with almost a jazzy tune, instead of the more modern songs that have taken the radio by storm. His new song, “Kiss Me Quick” was released on Youtube about four months ago. The video has gotten around 50,000 likes so far, and has a small number of 1,000 dislikes. The video has a view total of over 2 million. A few of the comments include: “ Sounded like John Legend.” “Wow, may have discovered a new artist to add to my music collection.” “Very good song.”

So far, it has garnered the records of 14th top song in the UK, 11th on the Scottish Singles and Albums Charts, and 1st on US dance.

Throughout the summer, you could not listen to the radio for more than 15 minutes without hearing “ Cool for the Summer, Cheerleader, See you again, and Bad Blood”. These songs on their own are pretty good, however after hearing them over 15 times in one day, they become somewhat stale. Kiss Me Quick is a refreshing song that has a live beat, elements of smooth jazz, and overall a upbeat feeling. His new album is due to launch later this year.
