A Truly Historic Ceremony
November 12, 2015
There was a dedication mass on October 30 for the completion of the new field and arts wing. The mass was led by Deacon Tanguay and priests from local perishes. After the mass ended students were moved to the back parking lot for the dedication ceremony where we were they heard speeches from our senior class president Connor Flynn, Headmaster Brother Brian, and mayor of Middletown Daniel T. Drew.
After the successes of the mass and ceremony I had the opportunity to sit down with Ms. Hoisl from the Campus Ministry team, and asked her about her thoughts on the mass and ceremony.
The first question I asked Ms. Hoisl was how she thought the whole event went. “I thought the whole event was spectacular but the mass was the highlight.”
The second question I asked her was how much work goes into planning events like this. She responded with “Events of that magnitude have committees that help with the numerous details.”
Finally I asked her what she thought the hardest thing about setting up masses and ceremonies. She replied with “Coordination between student and adult participants because space in our school is limited so we can’t set anything up in the gym until the morning of the event, which means that many people have to come in early. Ultimately when planning and implementing events that have to do with the spiritual life of the school. God’s in charge we’re not.
