Glastonbury Approves New Park

By Sean Neary, Reporter

South Glastonbury of Connecticut is currently in the process of building a new park. This park strives to provide year-round enjoyment and recreation for all ages.

Arbor Acres, the brand-new field development in South Glastonbury, is a soon-to-thrive area of recreation for ages 1-101. Springing from the grounds of a renowned chicken farm, Arbor Acres features miles of uncleared land. Town hall minutes show future plans for the park, including basketball and tennis courts, marked hiking trails, and a beautiful overview of neighboring woods, all for no entrance cost. “I really can’t wait for it to be done,” Marlborough citizen Ryan Masotti says, “I enjoy long walks in the woods.” The park is expected to be done within the next couple of years.

However, a small voice of concern arises throughout local citizens. The aforementioned chicken farm was shut down for a reason. To maintain these prizewinners, the owners doped up the land with countless pesticides. Citizens often worry about any long term effects of these poisons.

For those not located near Glastonbury, Connecticut offers other similar areas. These include Wickham Park in Manchester, Mill Pond Park in Newington, Elizabeth Park in West Hartford, Veterans Memorial Park in South Windsor, Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, and Bittner Park in Guilford.
