Fournier: Super Bowl LX is between the 14-3 New England Patriots and the 14-3 Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are favorites due to the “cupcake” schedule allegations for the Patriots. This was the case for Super Bowl XLIX, where the Patriots were the underdogs, and yet they were still able to beat the Seahawks 28-24. Tom Brady was named MVP with four touchdowns, and the rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler sealed the game with an interception at the goal line with just 20 seconds left.
Wickland: Nobody expected the Patriots to rise back to dominance this year, as they have gone 8-26 combined over the past two years. In my opinion, they have been terrible since Tom Brady left. This offseason, the Patriots picked up a lot of talent and have flipped the script under new head coach Mike Vrabel. They are looking to restore their dynasty. On the other hand, the Seahawks have been in the playoffs for years consistently within one of the hardest divisions in the NFL. The Seahawks also have a top three NFL receiver in Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Patriots superstar is dual-threat Quarterback Drake Maye, one of this year’s MVP candidates. The only other likely MVP is Mathew Stafford, the Rams Quarterback. The Patriots defense has been fantastic, allowing a total of 2 touchdowns throughout the playoffs. The Seahawks offense has also been incredible, scoring more than thirty points in both their games. The Patriots have put up no more than twenty-eight points in a game.
Professional analysts have the odds favoring the Seahawks to win. All season long; the Seahawks have had many promising wins against tough teams. Meanwhile, the Patriots have their so-called ‘easy’ schedule. However, the Patriots have proved speculation of being frauds all wrong and have beaten good teams throughout the playoffs in all close games. This Super Bowl should be a great, close game. I personally predict it to be a low-scoring affair, and that the Patriots will come out on top once again with a final score of 24-21.
