Hello everybody, welcome back to The Kestrel. I decided to give you some more information about our club in the hope that you will consider joining. Enjoy!!
The Kestrel is a Xavier tradition that stretches back all the way to the founding of this school. It is a crucial part of the Xavier community and is a fun way to get people important news. This has been my first year with the newspaper, and I have nothing but good things to say. Here is some information as well as my opinion.
Where/When/Why?
We meet downstairs in the Media Center in the Br. James Boyle Conference Room on Thursdays from 7:45 am to 8:10 am. This is a perfect spot for meetings because it is quiet and allows us to hold efficient meetings.

- Social Media Coordinator
- Help manage our social media pages! This job requires a strong video/post editor as well as a good leader.
- Meme Artist/Specialist
- This job is for anyone! You can take memes/photos/etc. and add captions to create Xavier-related memes!
- Sports Analyzer
- Take charge of Xavier Sports News in this job! You will update sports scores and upcoming games/matches and write sports articles!
- Assistant Reporter
- This is a position for writers who are just getting started. (1-3 Articles) You will make your way up to a promotion: Reporter.
- Reporter
- This is a position for intermediate writers who have contributed a lot to our website and are still active! (3-6 Articles)
- Senior Reporter
- This is a position for dedicated writers who have shown great skill and responsibility in writing articles. (6+ Articles)
- Puzzles/Interactive specialist (NEW!)
- Do you enjoy making and doing crosswords, word-searches, and trivia? Then you will really enjoy this job. You will make puzzles and brain games!
- Photographer (NEW!)
- Are you good at taking pictures and have an interest in working with The Kestrel? Then this job is for you! You will take and find pictures for articles!
- Podcaster (NEW!)
- Do you like recording commentary and news? Then this job is for you!
- Senior Video Creator
- Take charge of videos and Kestrel Media with this job! Moderate experience is preferred.
- Video Creator
- Create videos with this job!
New Additions to The Kestrel 2026-2027:
- We Will be incorporating games and prizes into our website!!!!!
- When completed, you are put into a raffle for a chance to win FREE FOOD or FREE XAVIER APPAREL!!!
- We will start incorporating STUDENT WRITTEN comic strips into our website!!!
