The movie is directed by Jon Favreau, and it follows Grogu and Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) as they take on a new mission for the New Republic. This movie follows the story from Season 3 of the TV series, The Mandalorian. Grogu and Din Djarin take on a new mission for the New Republic as they fight new challenges from a galaxy recovering from the fall of the Empire.
During their mission, they encounter new threats to take on such as, imperials, new aliens, and familiar faces from across the galaxy. We even see Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba the Hutt. The movie is designed to attract newcoming and long-term fans. The movie was released on May 22, 2026. It is the first step towards the future of Star Wars, helping to bring back the franchise to theaters.
However, the film’s opening weekend has been smaller than older Star Wars films, even though the movie opened at number one at the box office. Nevertheless, audiences and critics have had a positive experience, praising its visual effects, action, and seeing the story of Grogu and the Mandalorian continue after a few years. This movie helps set up upcoming shows and movies to come to light, while bringing some of the most popular characters to the big screen.
